OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) — A status hearing for former Auburn football player Mike McNeil is expected to continue today.
The former safety, who is accused in a March 2011 robbery, appeared Thursday for the hearing and his attorney, Ben Hand, filed a motion to withdraw from the case. A judge has yet to decide on the motion. McNeil is one of four former football players charged in the robbery and has pleaded not guilty.
McNeil's bonding agency, Bad Boyz Bonds, also requested to withdraw as his bondsman because he violated parts of his contract — including not telling the agency when he moved to enroll in school, and not making required weekly phone calls to the agency.
McNeil's hearing is expected to continue this morning and the trial is expected to begin April 8.
