By Staff Reports (Columbus GA)- Georgia Senator Josh McKoon helped lead the charge on the state's historic ethics reform only to come home to a bitter battle and allegations of ethics violations here in Columbus.
Three Muscogee County School Board members filed ethics complaints alleging intimidation by the politician over the board's legal counsel. McKoon has been an outspoken critic of the no-bid process by the school district.
McKoon worked hard to help one of the board members who filed a complaint , Beth Harris get elected...so what would motivate Harris to file a complaint if their is nothing to it?
McKoon did not directly address Harris' sudden about face but did offer this response.
"You know its disappointing that to me again, any member of the school board would become so defensive about their policies some of which to me are frankly indefensible. That instead of again engaging in a dialogue about how to improve things as a team, to instead make wild accusations that are not supported by any fact sits very disappointing."
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the complaints. John Bankhead tells NBC 38 "it is up to others" to decide whether McKoons actions warrant a full blown investigation or criminal charges. McKoon says he has not been interviewed by the GBI and hopes the ethics complaints made to the Senate Secretary are cleared soon.
