BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — A 24-year-old man has been charged in a shooting that left his 2-year-old nephew dead and his sister wounded.
Police say Andre Boykins, of Birmingham, is charged with capital murder and attempted murder. Police say they responded to a shooting early Saturday morning and found an unidentified woman and her 2-year-old son suffering from gunshot wounds. The boy, later identified as Nazario Boykins, was pronounced dead at Children's of Alabama. Authorities say the woman is expected to recover from her injuries.
Police say the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute, although it is unclear what the two were arguing over.
WBMA-TV reports Boykins is being held in the Jefferson County Jail and it is unclear if he has an attorney.
