Georgia unemployment rate drops to 8.6%

ATLANTA, GA - Good news for Georgia job seekers.

The state unemployment rate declined one tenth of a percentage point to 8.6% in February.

Nearly 39,000 newly-laid off workers filed for unemployment, the lowest number of claims since September 2007.

Long term unemployment also dropped for the 10th consecutive month to 3,700.
