By Staff Reports (Ft.Benning, GA) After more than a decade at war, the military is changing the way it trains soldiers for the battlefield.
More than 40 officers from all branches of the military along with students at WHINSEC held a major operational exercise at Fort Benning today.
The exercise was computer based using the Army's Command Post of The Future software and The Decisive Action War Gaming software to communicate on the battlefield.
"Its definitely a chance here to make the mistakes here in the schoolhouse before taking them out to the real world and have to do this for real. So it helps a lot on planning and how to use forces and utilize them during the execution."
"If you can do that here it just makes it so much easier in the real world, to communicate a plan, to get everyone effectively on the same page and it just makes everything more efficient."
Students use role playing while analyzing information from each scenario to implement a course of action ...the WHINSEC exercise is a two day event.
