ATLANTA (AP) — Police have filed new charges against a girl who accidentally shot herself at a midtown Atlanta high school.
Atlanta Police Spokesman John Chafee says the 17-year-old student is now charged in a hit-and-run accident from October 2012. In an accident report, a city worker says the girl hit her and fled the scene after a Fulton County Deputy ordered her to stop. It's unclear how police linked the girl to the crash.
The girl shot herself outside Grady High School Wednesday morning and was charged with reckless conduct, possession of a pistol by a minor, disruption of a public school and carrying weapons within a school safety zone. She appeared in court Thursday and bond was set at $41,000.
The Associated Press typically does not identify juvenile crime suspects.
