MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — A man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison in a fatal 2011 shooting outside a nightclub.
Cedric Burroughs was sentenced Wednesday. The man was convicted of murder in January after video was shown in court of him shooting a man on a crowded Mobile sidewalk on Sept. 11, 2011.
Assistant District Attorney JoBeth Murphree sought life in prison for Burroughs, but said she was satisfied with the judge's sentence.
Authorities have said they're unsure of whether Burroughs and the victim — Darryl Casher — knew each other, and the motive behind the shooting is unclear.
