COLUMBUS, GA - A woman trying to help an inmate, ends up an inmate herself.
Jamie Tudor was caught trying to sneak 30 grams of marijuana into the Government Center Wednesday morning.
She was allegedly going to leave it for an inmate, who officials say is her is her boyfriend, to pick up while he was on work detail inside the building.
Authorities say they received word about the plan ahead of time, and apprehended Tudor when she went through the building's security check-point.
She was charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
Muscogee County Sheriff John Darr says he wants to stress it is illegal for citizens to have contact with inmates on work detail.
"I think this goes to show that the security measures we have in place work. We can always do better, don't get me wrong, but this is an indication right here that with properly trained people and the right procedures in place that you can catch a lot of stuff like this," Darr says.
Prison officials say the inmate is no longer on work detail and has been placed in solitary inside the prison. He will eventually be transferred to another prison.
