Baseball is a Rasmus family tradition.
Coach Tony Rasmus is the patriarch of the Rasmus clan. And for 12 years, he has shaped and molded Russell County High School into one of the premier programs in the country. The warriors claiming a State and National title in 2005, and nine players going on to play professionally.
On Saturday, Russell County High School gave Coach Rasmus the ultimate honor, renaming their field in his honor.
Coach Rasmus isn't just a coach - he's also a father. He's raised four sons who all went on to play baseball at the next level.
The oldest, Colby - is currently the right fielder for the Toronto Blue Jays. Cory is a former first round draft pick in the Braves organization. Casey is a catcher in the Cardinals organization, and Cyle was a second baseman who played just down the road at Columbus State.
Now there's always some kind of competition between siblings, but four brothers that all play baseball? Growing up Rasmus wasn't easy, but none of them would trade it for the world.
