MIDLAND CITY, Ala. (AP) — Hostage negotiators near Midland City, Ala., are still trying to get a suspected gunman to release a 5-year-old boy snatched off a school bus Tuesday afternoon. Neighbors say the child is being held by 65-year-old Jimmy Lee Dykes, who's in an underground bunker on his property.

Negotiators are communicating with him through a ventilation pipe. The child, who has an autism-like disorder, was taken off the bus after the bus driver was shot and killed.
