
(WDHN)-Officials in Midland City, Alabama are working to bring a hostage situation to an end.
A gunman shot and killed a bus driver Tuesday afternoon and took a six-year-old boy captive.
Dale County District Attorney Kirke Adams tells local residents that the officers could use their support.
"I've been asked over and over by people what they can do and as the sheriff told you yesterday, stay home, but also we ask for prayer for all the families involved but especially for the law enforcement here working tirelessly, they're working everything they can do to resolve this matter so we ask for your continued prayer on that matter, thanks
Jimmy Lee Dykes is holed up in an underground bunker he dug in his yard, surrounded by sheriff's deputies, state troopers and police.
Authorities were able to get coloring books, crayons and medicine to the young boy.
