*CNN)-Authorities in Punta Gorda, Florida have confirmed that a body found earlier this month is that of a woman who went missing 20 years ago.

64-year-old Frances Hendrickson disappeared back in 1993 - last seen driving her car by a neighbor.

The case picked up a couple of years ago, when authorities began using sonar to search city canals for the missing woman's vehicle.

They finally found it earlier this month, with human remains inside.

Authorities say they are still investigating how Hendrickson ended up in the canal.
