(CNN) A small plane in Alabama crashed New Year's Day, claiming the lives of three teenagers.
The trio went up in a small Piper P-A 30..but did not survive the crash landing.
Fred Montgomery lost his 17-year-old son in the accident.
"My
wife is taking it very hard and which that's expected and my day will
come somewhere down the road and I'll pick a day but right now I need to
stand strong and be what I need to be for the family" Montgomery said.
The plane crashed just a mile from the Walker County Airport.
