COLUMBUS, GA - A Fort Benning soldier is behind bars Thursday, accused of beating a fifth grade boy on multiple occasions.

27-year-old William Robinson was arrested on post Wednesday evening and charged with three counts of cruelty to children.

Police allege Robinson punched the 10 year-old boy in the left and right eyes. They say on a separate occasion, Robinson allegedly kicked the boy in the groin.

Officials say the incidents occurred the week before Christmas in the Brittwood apartments.

The boy was taken to Saint Francis Hospital for treatment.

Robinson is set to appear in Recorder's Court Friday morning.
