COLUMBUS, GA - New details in the New Year's Eve club shooting that injured six and killed one.
Columbus police are still looking for two shooters who opened fire at the Majestic Sports Bar on Cusseta Road around 2:30 Tuesday morning.
Officials say five were shot inside the club and two were shot in the parking lot, but will not comment if the two shootings are connected.
24-year-old Charles Foster, Jr. was shot in the chest inside the club and was pronounced dead at the Medical Center.
The six other victims are recovering from non-threatening injuries including two who are underage--16-year-old and 17-year-old males were both shot.
The 17-year old-victim, Corey Taylor was shot three times. He tells NBC 38 he was wrongly hauled away from the hospital to jail, but not for being underage.
"They tell me I am being arrested for violation of probation which I was never on probation. I told them I was never on probation but they still said they had my name in the computer. Then I was taken to the county jail," Taylor says.
Taylor was released from the Muscogee County Jail Wednesday afternoon.
Mayor Teresa Tomlinson says she is well aware of the complaints some neighbors have about Majestic Sports Bar, and says if minors were involved, there will be consequences.
"We are going to be taking it very seriously. We will be taking a look at the owners. If it appears there were indeed minors involved, certainly the liquor license for the establishment will be in jeopardy. We will follow all the necessary procedures, but the license will be in jeopardy and the establishment will be subject to shut down," Tomlinson says.
The Mayor says she has also asked the police department to increase patrols in the area of the bar.
Police describe one of the shooters as a black male dressed in a tan work-suit with short hair. Anyone with information is asked to call Columbus Police at (706) 653-3400.
