
Staff Reports (Columbus, GA) A Columbus family is coping tonight after losing everything in an early morning house fire.
Fire Chief Ricky Shores tells NBC 38 the call came in around 4:20 this morning after the fire started in the garage of the Wexton Court home located in the Castlewood Subdivision of Columbus.
Investigators say the home sustained over $200,000 dollars worth of damage plus $150,000 thousand in contents were destroyed, including four cars.
The family made it out safely but their pets were not so fortunate.
They are currently staying in a local hotel. Call the American Red Cross if you would like to help.
Emergency responders stayed busy attending to six fire calls over the weekend according to Chief Shores.
