
NBC (Mobile, AL)-For the second time in a week, a powerful tornado touched down in Mobile leaving a swath of downed power lines and debris in its wake.
More than 23,000 residents of Mobile are without power, and across the state more than 27,000 are in the dark today.
Officials say the tornado was on the ground for about a mile or two.
Fire and rescue crews went door-to-door checking for injuries, and so far, three fatalities have been reported.
According to the National Weather Service, thirty-four tornadoes were reported throughout the Southeast. The storm is now moving toward the Northeast where post holiday travelers are facing flight delays and weather warnings.
