FORT BENNING, Ga. – Two Fort Benning Colonels are now up for a big promotion.
Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta announced yesterday that the President of the United States has nominated two Colonels here for appointment to the rank of Brigadier General.
Col. David B. Haight and Col. Paul J. Laughlin must now be confirmed by the U.S. Senate before the promotions take effect.
Haight has served as the Commandant of the United States Army Infantry School since August 2012. He is a distinguished military graduate of Brigham Young University and has been on active duty since he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1986.
Laughlin has served as the commandant of the United States Army Armor School since August 2012. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant upon his graduation from the University of Massachusetts.
He is only the third Armor School commandant to serve at Fort Benning since the Armor School's move from Fort Knox, Ky.
