By Staff Reports (Columbus, GA)- A former Municipal Court worker is suing the Columbus Consolidated Government, Marshal Greg Countryman, Sheriff John Darr and Municipal Court Clerk, Vivian Bishop.
The Civil case was filed against the group late yesterday afternoon in Superior Court by Attorney Mark Shelnutt who is representing former employee, Joanne Flantroy.
Flantroy has long maintained she was improperly dismissed from her job in the clerk's office after voicing concerns about alleged mismanagement in the clerk's office.
Earlier this year, the officials named in the suit sought a restraining order against Flantroy but abruptly abandoned the order as testimony was set to begin. At the time, Shelnutt says the Marshal and Clerk dismissed the restraining order because they did not want anyone to hear the potentially damaging testimony.
Since then, the battle between parties has played out in the public arena like an episode of "Sex, Lies and Videotape" to include tales of a sex tape being circulated starring one of the officials, none of which has been confirmed.
Contacted by phone late this afternoon, Vivian Bishop, Marshal Greg Countryman and Sheriff John Darr were not aware the lawsuit had been filed and declined comment.
