COLUMBUS, GA - It's that time of year again. The Fraternal Order of police gearing up to take kids in need in our community Christmas shopping.
But they need your help.
The FOP relies on donations to fund their Cops, Kids and Christmas program, but this year times are tough and the organization says it doesn't have enough funds to help the 50-60 kids it usually does.
Officials say the foot the entire shopping bill and they number of kids they help depends on the funds.
This year's program is on December 20th and begins with a motorcade from the Civic Center to the store with the kids.
"It's fun for the kids, they get to ride in the police cars and the Sheriff's cars and they will go shopping. And the officers will work with the kids and realize that Christmas is not just about them and encourage them to buy gifts for the whole family," Captain J.D. Hawk says.
To donate, you can call the FOP at (706) 593-1828 or visit the Fraternal Order of Police, Columbus, GA Facebook page.
