(CNN) - One of the year's hottest video games is touted for its realism; thanks to contributions from real-life Navy SEALs.
Now those servicemen who helped make the new "Medal of Honor" game so true to life are being punished by the military.
The Pentagon says seven Navy SEALs were officially reprimanded for providing classified information to the video game publisher Electronic Arts.
Officials say the company paid the SEALs to work as consultants on the game "Medal of Honor: Warfighter".
The seven were accused of showing their official combat gear and disclosing classified material.
All seven were given a letter of reprimand and docked two months' pay.
The move means they will be ineligible for promotion and essentially ends their military careers.
Four other Navy SEALs are still under investigation
