(CNN) - Two Iranian fighter jets fired on a U.S. drone in the Persian Gulf last week.
That's according to U.S. officials.
The U.S. Air Force Predator drone was unarmed and in international airspace east of Kuwait, performing surveillance.
The drone was not hit. But the incident raises fresh concerns within the Obama administration about Iranian military aggression in crucial Gulf oil shipping lanes.
The administration did not release details of the incident, but three senior officials who did not want to be named confirmed what happened.
