Columbus, GA - A local school is thinking pink tonight at it's football game.
The Brookstone Cougars are facing off against their rivals from Pacelli tonight and they are taking some time to support a very important cause off the field; breast cancer awareness.
The school's club Cougars Against Cancer is supporting the American Cancer Society through the NFL's "A Crucial Catch."
There will be candy and informational sheets and the coaches, players and students all wearing pink to stress the importance of cancer screenings and early detection.
Ellie Pippas, Event Organizer and sophomore at Brookstone says, "Just come out and have fun, it's going to be a fun game, we are going to have a half time announcement to get screened, that's the basic underlying message because screenings are the best thing and if you get screened early, you have a 50% greater chance of survival so that's really important."
The awareness effort doesn't stop here, Brookstone is also going to raise money during a pink basketball game this year.
