Columbus, GA - A Columbus man and Macon woman are facing charges in connection to trying to help an inmate escape.

40-year-old Edward Waldrop III and 29-year-old Ashley Brummett are both charged with aiding escape.

Police say they attempted to help a Muscogee County prison inmate escape.

Officials say the inmate was on work detail on Thursday morning when the pair pulled up in a car at the dead on Hunter Road and Mary Allison Drive.

The two were taken into custody shortly after.
