On 10/3/2012, (2:55 PM) , officers of the Opelika Police Department Vice & Narcotics Unit received information about a quantity of Methamphetamine being transported within the city limits of Opelika.
Officers were able to stop the vehicle, a gray 2005 Nissan Altima, and its driver in the Plum Avenue and Dover Street area. Officers searched the vehicle and located approximately 361 grams of suspected ICE (crystal methamphetamine) with a street value of approximately $72,000.00.
Officers also located a mason jar containing approximately an ounce of marijuana worth about $250.00.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Aiesha Veunckka Todd, age 24 of Opelika, was later arrested and charged with Drug Trafficking (Methamphetamine) and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana First Degree.
She was later transported to the Lee County Detention Facility.
If convicted Todd could face a mandatory minimum prison term of three years and a fine of $50,000.00 for the trafficking arrest. She could also face a sentence of 1 to 10 years for the marijuana arrest.
