Motorcycle drives loses control, dies in wreck

Posted: Updated:

Columbus, GA - Columbus Police are saying a stick may have been responsible for a death in a motorcycle accident last night.

According to police a Campbellton, Florida man was driving his motorcycle west on JR Allen Parkway around 5:30 last night.

That's when police say he passed a car near the Second Avenue exit. But while he was passing the car he swerved to avoid a stick in the road but ended up hitting it.

Police say he lost control of the motorcycle and hit a tree at high speed.

He was pronounced dead about an hour after the accident.

A Columbus man was also killed in a separate wreck on Tuesday on Buena Vista Road.
