Opelika, AL - Opelika Police are now investigating an argument leaves one Opelika man dead.
It's a sound Janice Ellis says she'll never forget.
Ellis says, "I heard them gunshots, that's all I heard."
An officer on routine patrol off Chester Avenue also heard gunshots and immediately responded. Finding 39-year-old David Lyles laying in the middle of the street.
"I came outside and I saw him lying by the car right there," Ellis explains.
Police say Lyles died at the hospital from several gunshot wounds to the upper torso.
Opelika Police, Captain Bruce DeLong says, "The investigation reveals that during some point the victim and two other males got into an argument."
Police have arrested 30-year-old Labrande Hughley in connection with the shooting. He's being charged with murder.
Captain DeLong says, "There is a second suspect who's wanted for questioning at this time, if you have any information, please contact Opelika Police."
This is Opelika's Sixth homicide of the year.
