Montgomery, AL (WSFA) - There is a new anti-methamphetamine law in Alabama that is being praised as being among the strongest in the nation.

On Monday Attorney General Luther Strange was joined by members of the Alabama Drug Abuse Task Force and others to launch a public awareness campaign called the 'Anti Smurfing Campaign.' This is an education program run through pharmacies and retailers throughout the state.

Deputy Dir. Ala. Dist. Atty. Assoc., Barry D. Matson said, "What we are seeing with this system is a way to tighten up a with identification requirements, people coming in from other states, make that tougher but like you address everything, if you only address one problem and not comprehensively then you have not really taken the fight straight on to the people that are trying to do the damage and that's why this will was comprehensive."
