(NBC News) - A university professor who admits to shooting six fellow faculty members, killing three goes on trial today.
Amy Bishop-Anderson is accused of shooting fellow University of Alabama faculty members in February 2010.
The 47-year-old pleaded guilty to capital murder and attempted murder on September 11th.
Despite the guilty plea, Alabama law requires capital murder cases still go before a jury.
As part of a plea agreement, Bishop-Anderson will spend the rest of her life in prison.
