New Infantry Silver Dollar unveiled at Doughboy Classic

Fort Benning -  The Fort Benning Doughboys take to the football field once again to take on the Columbus State Cougars and unveil a special coin before kickoff.

Former Buffalo Bills head coach Marv Levy was on hand to toss the coin which is being minted by the U.S Mint for mass production and sale next year.  The front of the coin features the iconic "Follow Me" Infantry soldier with the inscription "In God We Trust".  On the tails side is the Infantry's insignia with crossed rifles with the inscriptions of "United States of America," and "E Pluribus Unum"

The coin will go on sale next February with 10 percent of all proceeds going to the National Infantry Museum.  B.B Craig from the U.S Mint to unveil the coin and said the Infantry coin will be special to the entire Army because, "Everybody in the Army starts off by learning Infantry tactics."

The coin is only one of two special coins authorized by Congress to be minted by the U.S Mint next year. 

Other pre game festivities included a jump from the Army Silver Wings parachute team that delivered the game ball and 2012 Infantry Coin.  There was also a fly over after a stirring rendition of the national anthem.

Major General Robert Brown and other Fort Benning commanders also dedicated the night's game to all the Veterans of the Vietnam War.
