
Phenix City police are investigating the city's second fatal shooting in two days.
Police said it happened around 11 p.m. on Friday in the parking lot at Idle Hour Park. The victim, 38-year-old Ramona Fairwell was sitting in a car, when police said three men approached to ask for directions. A witness said one of the men then put on a mask and pointed a gun at her. Police said the victim tried to drive away, but the suspect fired the gun multiple times, hitting the victim and the car. The men then fled the scene on foot.
Fairwell was taken to the Medical Center in Columbus, where she was pronounced dead. Her body has been sent to Montgomery for autopsy. Police are continuing to investigate the shooting.
On Thursday night, 27-year-old Carlos Brown was shot to death and found under the Oglethorpe Bridge off Brickyard Road.
