BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Southeastern Conference Commissioner Mike Slive doesn't think student-athletes should have employee status, but says there is some common ground with the proposal from the five power leagues and a union movement. Slive said Monday the groups have the same goals "in part, and maybe in great part."

ATLANTA (AP) - Evan Gattis hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning, leading the Atlanta Braves past the Miami Marlins 4-2 Monday night. Dan Uggla led off with a single up the middle off Arquimedes Caminero, and Gattis followed with a shot into the left-field seats for his fifth homer of the season - and first career walkoff homer.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Indiana Pacers must protect their home court Tuesday night against Atlanta to avoid falling into a 2-0 deficit in the best-of-seven first round series. The Hawks expect Indiana to change a few things. That could include All-Star Paul George defending Atlanta point guard Jeff Teague.

ATLANTA (AP) - The city of Atlanta wants to host college football's national championship game in 2018 as a prelude to a possible Super Bowl bid. Peach Bowl President Gary Stokan discussed the timetable after a news conference Monday to announce a six-year agreement with the current title sponsor.
