The Troup County Sheriff's Office arrested and charged 49-year-old Donna Jo Davis, resident of LaGrange with theft by deception, regarding an investigation that began in 2009.

In 2006, Davis allegedly assumed the identity of her ailing mother by opening up a credit card under her name.

As debt started to pile up, Davis then reportedly attained other credit cards (using the same method) to pay off the amounts owed on previous cards. To date, Davis has accumulated approximately $17,893.00 in total debt through her deception.

The matter was submitted to Troup County Sheriff's Office Investigators after property holders (banks) are now threatening Davis' mother with legal action.

The arrest comes within days of Donna Jo Davis' mugshot having been featured in the "Most Wanted" section of various local media outlets (newspaper, television stations, radio stations and the internet).

Davis posted a $35,800 bond at the Troup County Jail, and now faces a May 11, 2011 court date.
