After deciding to honeymoon in Alaska, Joel suggested holding the whole wedding in the wilderness. Though she had always imagined getting married in her hometown church in Ohio, Emily readily agreed once she discovered a church in Homer with the same name.

THE BRIDE: Emily, 29, veterinarian
THE GROOM: Joel, 33, data security analyst

Emily, her mom, and her sister made most of the wedding details, from the hand-stamped invitations to the origami wedding flowers. Despite the eclectic decor, a brown, teal, red, and orange color palette united the wedding's look.

The Boutonnieres
Emily's brother wore a DIY button boutonniere and a custom silk tie screen-printed with a black lotus.

The Ceremony
Bagpiper Steve Adams announced the couple's exit from their ceremony. Guests threw Ecofetti, a biodegradable product, so no one had to worry about cleanup.

The Reception
The Chart Room Restaurant in Homer offers stunning views of the Bay and Kenai Mountains. The couple sat their guests at one long table decorated with candles and chocolate-brown linens. There was no dancing or music; instead Emily and Joel let their guests enjoy the food and the company.

The Bouquet
Emily embellished her red paper wedding bouquet with red ribbon and crystals. She and her mom and sister made all of the bridal party's flowers.

The Favors
Because all of their guests had to travel to Alaska for the wedding, Emily and Joel sent the ones who RSVP'd "yes" personalized luggage tags. They stamped them with blue trees and included an itinerary for the weekend and a thank you note.
