UPDATE: Corrections officer in custody for allegedly shooting husband

Lee County Sheriff's deputies have the corrections officer accused of shooting her husband, in custofy.

Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones says the incident happened just before 7:30 CST Monday morning. Deputies responded to the home on Lee Road 574 in Smith Station, to find the victim, 42-year-old Edwin Clinton McGuire, Jr. had been shot at least once in the abdomen. He says the suspect, 34-year-old Candy McGuire ran from the scene.

The victim has been taken to the Columbus Medical Center. His condition is not known at this time.

The suspect is a corrections officer with the Russell County Sheriff's Office.
