Construction for 'Rails to Trails begins

The Columbus Consolidated Government is continuing its efforts on the city’s new 11 mile 'rails to trails' project. Phase 1 which starts at the 14Th street bridge to and goes to Columbus State University and Phase 2 which is from CSU to Cooper Creek Park are now under construction as well as two rest areas. Bridge improvements are scheduled for this project, the first started today. The old bridge was recently removed to be replaced with a new steel structure to allow access to pedestrians, bicyclists, maintenance and emergency crews. The first prefabricated deck was placed today and a second deck will be placed on Saturday.
