For many Americans money is tight these days, but there is still hope for you’re 4th of July meal and NBC 38’s Maria Jones shows you how. Many Americans are preparing to celebrate our Nation’s Independence, while watching their budget. And although millions are set to hit the road, many are celebrating at home with a back yard bar-b-cue or home cooked meal. “Yeah we realize that things are tight now, we try to offer, good reasonable value. For the Fourth, I would recommend we have a good value on boneless chuck, hamburger patties that’s made out of pure lean chuck, we also have an exceptional value on some boneless pork chops, boneless country style ribs,” Lewis Jones Food Market, Manager Scott Herring said. Executive Chef/Maurice Martin added, “One of the things they can do is an economical way to do it is buy chicken or poultry. I mean you can feed a lot of people with that.” And Martin says you can still save on other options for your holiday meal. “Yeah the ribs, generally you can go to you’re various bar-be-cue outlets and get a slab of ribs for 15-dollars. I have them already cooked in half slabs and you can get them from around the price range from seven to eight dollars or even lower depending on the weight, and they are sold by the weight. And include a chipotle
Bar-be-cue sauce in those as well,” Martin added. And there are plenty of ways to serve them. Herring explained, “You can fix them just anyway you like, there always great on the grill.”
But for those watching their weight, there are a few choices for lighter dishes with plenty of flavor. “The most popular ones is our fresh mozzarella to basil salad that I feature. I came up with this one just for that request,” Martin said. And don’t forget dessert! It completes every meal and satisfies your sweet tooth.
