Shooting Suspect Turns Himself in to Police

A Columbus man wanted for aggravated assault turned himself in to Police late last night. According to Officials, 31-year-old Reginald Vaughn Roberts shot Jeffery Newsome in the mouth on June 24th. Police say it is unclear why the shooting occurred but the men are long-time acquaintances. Roberts appeared in Recorders Court this morning and faces Aggravated Assault Charges, along with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime. Newsome is in stable but serious condition at a local hospital. Officials say the bullet hit Newsome in the mouth and traveled through his neck.
