City Wide Candlelight Vigil for Michael Jackson

Maria Jones

Tuesday night in Columbus nearly 2-thousand fans paid tribute to Pop Icon Michael Jackson in a city-wide candlelight vigil. Many said they came to pay their respects and honor his legacy. The event was organized by local radio stations 98-point-3 The Beat, Sunny 100 and Magic 101-point-3. Organizers gave out 1400 Hundred Candles before running out. Many sang songs in tribute, and shared their thoughts about his legendary career. Alan Quin/Clear Channel Radio told News 38, “We decided we had to do something to honor Michaels incredible impact, in the musical world and in you’re world and in my world. And in all of our worlds, black, white, green, yellow he had an impact on everyone of us. And this is a way to get the community together and just kind of celebrate Michaels Music.” Taeisha Brown attended vigil, “Just the songs, just him in person, his love for people and for kids.” ”I came out today, because I love Michael Jackson. He’s a great musician and the King of Pop,” Ashton Maxwell added. The official vigil was sponsored by P-Tap, Uptown Columbus, the Business Improvement District and Clear Channel Radio.
