Yesterday we told you about the 13 medals Auburn University swimmers took home from Beijing. So, what is it really like to go to the Olympics? NBC 38 sat down some of the lucky Auburn swimmers.
“Beijing was amazing. They didn't spare any expenses. And they just went all out on everything,” said Gideon Louw who swam on South Africa’s Olympic team.
“It was a bit surreal to tell you the truth. Just having people like the USA Dream Team and just massive celebrities walking around, doing the same things that you do,” said Matt Targett who swam for Australia.
“It was my first Olympic Games and as everyone says you have to kind of step it up,” said Alexi Puninski who swam for Croatia.
“I like meeting new people, I like meeting different people and actually I say it's kind of like practice at Auburn... a lot of, it's a pretty diverse team you have here,” said Jakob Andk jaer who swam for Denmark.
All four say they hope to compete at the Olympics again in 2012.
