Another Round of Soldier Home

Julie Bercik

Away from their families for more than four hundred days.

Another round of Third Brigade soldiers are home.
The unit arrived at Fort Benning at 8 o'clock last night.
NBC 38's Julie Bercik was there and has more.
"Daddy."
"Daddy."
Daddy is home for hundreds of ecstatic children.
"I miss when he's not tickling me or walking me up for school," said Kayla Hays.
Kayla Hays says she's going to tickle her daddy tomorrow morning, others just want to play.
"Golf and football," said Tyler Clukey.
Equally excited to have daddy home ... mom
"A year, two months, two seconds, two minutes," said Juanita Jones.
It's been a long 14 months for the wives of the third brigade, many have been single parents for the past year.
"I just stay focused, I know my husband is coming home , I know it in my heart, I feel it. So we just be patient and just wait," said Jones.
One of the hardest things explaining why daddy is gone.
"It's an emotional roller coaster for them as well as me," said Jessica Clukey.
"Mostly I just tell them he's overseas, he's doing his job and he's helping others," said Katrina Hays.
Finally, questions were replaced with smiles and plenty of cheering, as the 3rd Brigade made its grand entrance into Freedom Hall."
"It's over, he's home," said Hays.
With tears of joy, Katrina Hays holds onto her husband extra tight, not wanting the moment to end. "I'm so excited. I'm nervous to see what it's going to be like when we get home. I'm anxious to get home. I'm happy, I'm just happy," said Hays.
