The lives of the Rozier brothers were celebrated today during a ceremony at their school in Columbus. The brothers tragically drowned in the Chattahoochee River last Saturday. NBC 38’S Maria Jones has the story. A grieving father, family and community came together to honor the short lives of 9 year-old Alijah and 8-year-old Arturio this morning at Key Elementary. As dozens of white balloons were released into the sky, memories of the young boys will never die. Two Trees were planted in Honor of Alijah and Arturio as students, faculty and staff say they will never forget the young boys who touched so many lives. One mother remembers (Allijah). Her son’s friend and classmate. “They were friends, they would play, fight. They just did kid stuff. And you know, one minute they, you make me sick, the next minute, you my friend. And they walked home together,” Dorinda Gray, told News 38. “It’s the least we can do for the family. We loved Arturio and Alijah. You know we look at our as more than just students, that are just children, we look at them as our family, so for the community to be able to get together and organize something that commemorates their lives and celebrates their lives, I think it was a beautiful thing, I think it’s absolutely wonderful. If they were here, they would be very, very happy about that,” School Counselor, Anjulique Bryant said. “To be able to bare crisis and to respond and to reach out in love. And also the total school system and school district as well as the church’s and the people who live in these areas, responding out with love and care and concern,” Local Pastor, Rev. Joseph Roberson stated. For WLTZ NBC 38, I’m Maria Jones
