“Elementary School Principal Speaks Out About Recent Lost of 2 Students”

Maria Jones

In the wake of the tragedy that took the lives of 9 year-old Alijah and his younger brother, 8-year-old Arturio Rozier, members of the community and their school are in mourning. Just days after losing two of her students in the Chattahoochee River, Principal Donna Hart says, there are tough days ahead but they will get through this tragedy by focusing on the positive impact, the Dozier brothers had on their fellow classmates, teachers and staff at Key Elementary. Hart stated, “Essentially what we did, we invited them to reminisce with us, we brainstormed on chart paper things we remembered about the boys. We invited them to write their Dad, letters of condolences or their Grandmother, Ms Chapman, essentially we tried to focus on keeping the memories.” On Friday two trees will be planted in the boy’s memory during their school field day. Counselors are still available to all students, parents and faculty at Key Elementary. If you’d like to donate to the Dozier Brother’s fund, you can make a donation at any SunTrust Bank. Funeral Services for the boys are scheduled for Saturday at 12noon at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The ceremony is open to the public.
