New Georgia Gun Law

Maria Jones

The Georgia Senate approved a gun bill that would expand the rights of Georgians to carry concealed weapons. The bill has to be signed by Governor Perdue, but passed 40 to 15 in yesterday's Senate. If the bill is approved by the Governor, Georgians will be able to carry a concealed weapon in their vehicles, at state parks, and on historic sites.
"My feelings are that they kinda split the baby, quite frankly. The original bill was that, employees could legally bring a firearm for their own self defense, on their way to work, could park in the employers parking lot, not bring it into the building, and then could drive home safely and have a firearm at their disposal, if they needed it. The way I understand the current bill was, as if its that a private employee parking lot, just for employees, that nothing has changed the employers can still say, no firearms, I can search your car," said the owner of Shooters Gun Shop, Jon McMullen.
McMullen says he believes law abiding citizens should be able to own a firearm for self defense, recreation, hunting, and competition.
