Sheriff: Weight, Weather Doomed Lake Eufaula Fishermen
Henry County Coroner: All Three Fishermen Drowned
The boat the three fishing buddies were in on Lake Eufaula last Wednesday is back on dry land.
It was discovered in 30 feet of water.
The Henry County Sheriff tells First News there was no obvious damage to the boat but other major factors could have easily contributed to the tragedy.
There is still sheer disbelief on Lake Eufaula that three experienced fishermen didn’t make it back home safely but the boat they were in gives several clues according to the Sheriff about what likely happened that night.
Timothy Evans boat had a 500 pound capacity but the three men and their equipment exceeded that.
Investigators also believe the boat was stationary and not running at the time of the accident.
Despite the weight and weather, conspiracy theories abound because some of their friends say they could swim and the boat was located just a hundred yards from shore.
“They could not easily swim anywhere with layers of clothes, hypothermia could have set in…….”
By now you may know the three victims, lifelong friends grew up fishing, considered experts on the water but the Sheriff warns no matter what your expert level, you can never get complacent on the water. Always wear the life jacket.
