66% of Millennials Have No Retirement Savings

66% OF MILLENNIALS HAVE NOTHING SAVED FOR RETIREMENT

Tallahassee, FL (WTXL) – According to a new report, two thirds of millennials are not saving for retirement.

The National Institute on Retirement Security found that roughly 66% of people ages 21 to 32 have nothing saved.

A lot of millennials entered the work force at a time of stagnant wages and high unemployment, and many are saddled with student loan debt.

Add that to mortgage payments and other bills, and there’s not much left for retirement savings.

Employer retirement plans seem to help more than 94% of millennials who are eligible for a workplace retirement plan are saving.

However; many millennial workers don’t qualify for plans even if their company offers one because some don’t work enough hours, while others haven’t been with their company long enough.
