D.C. Cherry Blossoms Will Peak Early?

NATL PARK SERVICE PREDICT THAT WASHINGTON, D.C.'S YOSHINO CHERRY BLOSSOMS WILL PEAK EARLY IN 2018.

(CNN) – Cherry blossom lovers in the Washington D.C. area may get their fix early this year.

The National Park Service says they expect blooms to peak for the capitol’s iconic Yoshino cherry trees between March 17th and March 20th.

The trees are considered to be in “peak bloom” when 70% of the blossoms are open.

Another group; the Washington Post’s capitol weather gang expects blooms to peak a little later between March 23rd and March 27th.

But that’s still ahead of schedule, blossoms usually peak during the first few days in April.

Still, experts with the National Park Service say predicting the peak bloom date is not an exact science.

They’re never really confident about their prediction until they’re about ten days out, so stay tuned.
