UPDATE: 19-year-old Tuskegee Man Shot to Death in Opelika, Man Who Shot Him Identified
A 19-year-old from Tuskegee was shot and killed Thursday night in Opelika.
It happened around 11:15 p.m. in the 600 block of Edmon Ave.
Police said they found Jabbar Combs, Jr. with multiple gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to East Alabama Medical Center, but was pronounced brain dead Sunday morning.
His body sent to Montgomery for an autopsy.
The person who shot him was 23-year-old Shyrod Jones.
Police said that Jones and another person were home when thye heard loud knocking and banging on his rear door.
Jones had a gun because he told police his house has been burglarized before.
When he opened the rear door, he was confronted by someone he didn’t know and that was later confirmed to be Combs.
Jones told police Combs seemed threatening and so he shot him.
After the incident, Jones voluntarily went to the police station to be interviewed and has been cooperastive with the investigation.
Combs was in the area to visit friends in that neighborhood.
The case is under investigation.
