Bass Statue Stands in Eufaula to Represent the “Bass Capital of the World”

Bass fishing draws thousands of people to lake Eufaula every year.

When one group came into town, they named them the “Bass Capital of the World.”

So, with that title of course they needed a bass statue to live up to their name!

The city started talking about it March 2017 and the State Tourism Agency awarded them a grant for the statue.

“Manny” stands 12 feet tall at the start of the Broad St. Walking Trail and was dedicated on January 23,2018 with more than 200 people watching it go up.

“Since Eufaula is the bass capital of the world, we want to have something for people to enjoy when there’s fishing tournaments going on and have people come take selfies and stuff like that,” said Ann Sparks, Executive Director for Mainstreet Eufaula.

The statue is named “Manny” after legendary Alabama Angler Tom Mann.

Sparks told WLTZ, every day people come by and take pictures with it, using the #BigBassManny.
