Head Of CDC Resigns

CDC DIRECTOR RESIGNS AMID REPORTS OF TOBACCO STOCK PURCHASE

Atlanta, GA (CNN) – The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is looking for a new leader.

CDC director Doctor Brenda Fitzgerald resigned from her position on Wednesday, just six months after being selected for the post.

In a statement, the Department of Health and Human Services blamed what it called her “complex financial interests” for Fitzgerald’s decision.

The move comes one day after politico reported that Fitzgerald bought tobacco stock after becoming CDC director.

Such an investment goes against the mission of the CDC.
